"Shredder mechanism is heavily constructed. powerfull, however a little loud while shredding. Discharge bin adequate for home use. Body surrounding discharge bin is sturdy when shredder is attached, but a little flimsy with shredder removed. Also, be careful when removing shredder as the four tabs holding the shredder to the body can break. Also like the 9" opening for shredding paper."
"Overall great performance, shortcoming is that it can't be used for long periods of time. If you are doing annual file review and have alot to shred, it heats up."

Cons: overheats and turns off too soon (10 - 15 minutes)
"I work out of my home and sometimes need to shred a lot of documents. The one frustrating thing about this shredder is that it overheats after about 10 - 15 minutes. It turns off automatically when this happens and I have to wait about an hour before I can use it again.
I wish it would work longer before overheating and turning off.
Other than this, it works fine."

"When our old shredder shot craps we decided to look for another machine even though the old shredder was still under warranty. We spent the better part of the day on the internet searching for machines and came across the Fellowes website. While shopping in Costco one day we came across a sale they had on the model DM12Ct and we bought it. We didn't see this particular machine on the Fellowes website, but we bought it on the basis of the Fellowes name and the fact it incorporated the "jam-proof" feature This machine is so much better than our old machine. It reminds us of a piece of farm machinery in that when you turn it on you know it's going to handle anything you give it - it sounds that sturdy. It's not overly loud - it's just plain stout!"
