" I purchased the excellent SB-99i shredder ( my second ), about two years ago.
Unfortunately it has suffered very loud vibrations when shredding, from the moment it was delivered. I regularly oil the cutter system, but the vibrations persist. This is a great shame, because it is otherwise an excellent machine.
I shall try to get Fellowes to advise me how to stop the vibration somehow.

Cons: makes a mess when changing bags, often gags on more than 8 sheets (rated for 17)
" Shredder shreds well and quietly -- for 20-30 minutes, then overheats. One major problem which should be fixable with minor design changes has to do with shreds of paper getting into base of machine, under basket, then onto the floor whenever I change shredder bags. The mess from this then travels through the office and home on shoes. It should be possible to redesign the shredder basket so this no longer occurs. Also, while rated for 17 sheets, it gags sometimes on as few as eight.

" This is one quiet and powerful shredder. It is well built without being too large. Just the right size to role around and shred papers. This shredder came highly recommended by a store clerk who worked at a competitor's store. I expect to get years of service out of this machine. We get a lot of junk mail and shredding it is the only way to prevent someone from gaining information from it when it is thrown away.

" I searched via internet and office supply catalogs for a shredder that would meet our needs. After doing them, I decided to purchase the Fellowes SB 99Ci shredder. The first thing that I noticed was how quiet it was when doing shredding. After using it over a period of time, I also appreciated the other features of this shredder - jam resistance, saftety features and the quality of its construction. I would certainly recommend this shredder to other people. Thank you for making a quality shredder for a small office.

" The SB-99Ci does a good job of grinding up paper, regular staples and CDs which is why you buy the thing to start with. 17 pages pushes the limit but it does work well for personal use. The “jam proof” feature works. Problem is the disposal system needs improvement. As you grind away a large ball of shredded material accumulates under the cutting mechanism and the red light comes on and the machine stops. You open the drawer and clear the machine by pushing the cut up material to the bottom. You do this several times and the bag becomes filled. Then, when you start to pull out the bag full of shredded material it gets a large rip in the side of the bag, Turns out the little window they provide on the side of the machine to let you see when it is full protrudes into the basket and has a sharp edge which snags the bag into which you have pushed the ground up paper. Remedy is to change the bag more often and not to compact the waste too much.

" I am impressed with how well this shredder works. Our old one overheated all the time and it was stop and go, not the case at all with the SB-99Ci. I've been able to get all of my shredding done without having to stop and wait!! No jams ! This shredder is very quiet compared to other shredders, I would recommend to others.

" I really like how this operates. The sheet rating is a bit high, but works much better than my other less-expensive Fellowes shredder.
First two units came defective from Amazon. Not sure if that was shipping or what. Fellowes customer service was excellent in resolving the issues. It almost made me want to go with a different model, but the third works great. Nobody dreads the shred anymore!

" I purchased this shredder to replace a Royal 12x crosscut shredder that died on me. The SB-99Ci is a lot quieter and stronger than my former shredder. Although this shredder is rated for 17 sheets per pass; the best I can get is 12-13. But that is ample for my home office use. My Royal could only do about 7 sheets per pass, with a lot more noise. The floor casters that come with this shredder make moving the shredder easy, with very little effort.

" The machine is excellent and of top quality except the bin. Although the bin door is plastic, the bin itself is cardboard. Yes, I said cardboard. This design is beneath the name & reputation of Fellowes. It's like buying a Ferrari car that comes with wooden wheels of a Stagecoach.
