" This shredder is quiet and does the job we bought it for good. the only problem we have had so far with it, is the buttons on the pull out basket will not intact and the basket will not go back in properly. We actually had to tape the area so be can get the basket in and out.

Cons: bin quality doesn’t match shredder, a little messy to empty bin, need to shake bin when paper piles in bin middle
" My spouse and I are cleaning up years of paperwork that our parents accumulated. The shredder was delivered to our front door Sunday after lunch. We had 5 thirty gallon bags of shredded paper by the end of the day. Jammed it a few times and tripped the overheated safety a couple times but quite a load in one day. Downers - the paper bin fit wasn’t perfect, the paper bin was messy to dump, and you’ll need to vacuum up a small amount of small paper particles that don’t stay in or make it into the bin. Also the bin is a little on the cheap side - several of the plastic rivets that fasten the corrugated plastic bin to its frame came apart and had to be pressed back together- hope they stay together. Otherwise they might get lost in a bin dump. I didn’t use the bin bags - too small for the large quantity we shredded.

" I could not believe how quiet this shredder is compared to my last one. Seems to handle thick stacks of paper with no problems. I hope this satisfaction continues, I highly recommend this shredder. I believe you could shred beside a baby sleeping and it wouldn't disturb it. 2 year warranty is an added plus.

" I got the Powershred 99Ci at a nice sale price ($100 off). If I had paid full price I might be returning it, but for what I paid (Still a lot) I'm pleased with the size of paper it will shred and the number of sheets at a time. 18 would be really pushing this motor and I wouldn't want to do that, but 8 or 10 at a time is no problem for me at home. As I expected, because I shred a lot at work, the bin fills quickly, and the shredder runs noticeably more quietly after you add the oil that's recommended every time you empty the bin. The little 1 ounce oil that comes with is gone in a flash, but oil is a cheap maintenance trick for a shredder. I wasn't surprised to see the plastic bin because even industrial-size shredders have those. You just have to be careful with them. Two features I really like about this shredder are the bright blue on/off button, and the additional on/off security switch conveniently located at the top rear. The things that are disappointing to me so far (30 days in) are (1) that the rolling caster wheels simply cannot be safely and securely attached, and even if they could, they would have no brake. That seems unacceptable at this price point, to me. (2) The width of the paper feed opening seems much too tight to allow the advertised 18 pages per pass, and I guess this is a nod to safety technology but it's sometimes difficult to get any paper at all to be accepted for shredding. I don't like having to force the paper down into the shredder. It should take it from me readily when it senses it at the feeder, I believe. (3) As with the cheaply constructed plastic bin (but hey - at least it's not cardboard - some are!), anyone who is not daily familiar with shredding large quantities of paper should be prepared for all the loose shreddings that fall down behind the bin. That little pile has to be hand collected regularly; and its presence may explain why some people have problems with their door closing. A half inch of wadded paper back there can make a big difference. Why can't shredder bin design be more accurate, so that all the shreds fall into the bin? This is so annoying.

" I bought a similar model Fellowes shredder 15-20 years ago and got excellent use out of it over the years. It was time to replace the shredder so I reviewed the shredder market and ended up selecting a Fellowes model (99ci) comparable to the one I purchased many years ago. I received delivery of it today and tried out my new purchase. I noted some new features and improvements were added for safety and ease of use. Keep up the good work, Fellowes!

" Our school purchased this shredder after our old one stopped working. We wanted one that wasn't as noisy as the old one and that would shred more sheets at one time. This shredder is very quite and it doesn't get hot very fast, so you can shred longer. I do, however, wish that the wheels had locks so that it didn't move around as easy and that the bin had a tighter closure, it seems to vibrate open sometimes. It also seems to not level out the shredded paper you still have to push it down or empty it before it is completely full.

" This is at least the third shredder I've bought of various brands. This is the most expensive and is so new I hardly know how to rate it on most items. In the short time I've had it, it certainly has shredded everything I've thrown at it. It's intelligent enough to tell you when you've given it too much -- which should go far in making it jam proof. It's touchy safety feature seems to make it a little slower than the Ativa it replaced to grab onto the load and grind it up. (How much do we really need to interfere with Darwin on some of this stuff?) But I have one major gripe with this shredder that is the same as with the others: You might as well haul out the vacuum cleaner when you empty the bin because you're going to have a mess. I can buy garbage bags that will fit over the bin, but why can't a simple hand grip be molded into the bottom of these bins? Don't the designers ever empty these things?

Pros: Jam Resistance, Safety Features, Quiet Operation, Secure Cut Size, Sheet Capacity, so far it was the worthy investment
Cons: needs more detailed manual
" So far, this product is satisfactory. Needs to produce a better manual. ex basic set up - caster installation. just pictures and no comments nor tools. We had to call in how to install these. We were told to hit it in with either a shoe or hammer. I went online to download the manual (hoping it was a more in detail type), but there were several ones download for this product and I had to call "which one to download". The staff was very helpful, by the way. When I previewed the manual-I was in shock! It was the same brochure that came with the shredder.

We are glad that you found our customer service team to be so helpful! Our casters can sometimes be difficult to install, but we have formulated several tips and tricks to help with this process, such as using a rubber mallet or the weight of the machine in order to push these casters into place.
