Cons: too little bin, too messy to empty bin
" Because is not a micro-shredder, the volume produced when shredding is huge.
But capacity of bin is too small, so you end up having to hand-compact the shredded product and to empty the bin too often.
And emptying the bin is very messy, so prepare to vacuum and clean after.
If you have very little to shred, it can be ok, otherwise, don't buy it. I regret being convinced by sales person that it is a great shredder, and regret and hate not being able to return it because did not used it within the 15 days allowed "

Cons: Quality Construction
" New shredder arrived today. Much anticipated. Bin open light stayed on with bin in. Determined bin switch activated by plastic "blade" molded onto bin. It was, of course, broken off so no matter what you did, the bin switch never was able to be "closed". So, the new machine is basically a brick. Waste of money. Poor design.

Cons: small waste bin
" Pros: Easy to Use, Features, Performance, will meet and exceed expectations, Mess Reduction, Quality Construction, Safety Features, Secure Cut Size, Sheet Capacity. Worked on the first try. Easy to put together. I recommend putting the casters on for easy mobility. The safety features are excellent. Came with the oil and a few sample bags. Tested well on the first try. It wasn't any louder than the last shredder we had for years. It does take 16 sheets of 20# bond paper. Like the pull out waste container though it is a bit small for my taste, less mess than a device where you have to pull up on the shred mechanism to remove the waste.

" I have used Fellows products for years and years and always been more than happy, until I got the 79ci. This is the worst shredder I have ever owned. - The capacity sensors are based on thickness, so wrinkled single sheets cause the sensor to stop shredding - not torque. It will work fine for one junk mail envelope but not another. I must constantly babysit the work and use the "force shred" option to get the jobs done. I really need to take the thing apart and disable the thickness sensor.

The thickness of the paper and documents can affect the amount of strain put onto the cutting block which in turn determines the performance and longevity of your shredder. " Too low to floor, have to empty bin too often, co-workers say it is louder than last shredder. Makes it harder to constantly empty bin with it being lower to floor. Overall, I do not like this shredder, would return if I had not traded my old shredder to get a discounted price. It was a Staples brand that was no longer available.

" From the first day of use, I have hated this shredder. I still have the fellowes shredder that I purchased 15 years ago, and it works circles around this piece of junk. This is the messiest shredder that I have ever worked with. Never again will I purchase a shredder from fellowes.
